Governors Sought for Popular Kidderminster School

Holy Trinity School and Sixth Form Centre, is seeking to recruit independent school governors from the world of business to join the School’s Board of Governors ready for the new academic year in September.

Headteacher Mrs Leek-Wright stated: “Following our successful transition to a Free School in September 2014, we now need to further develop and build the skill set of our existing Board of Governors.

“I am excited to further engage with our local business community and invite anyone with a passion and interest in education to join us and become a School Governor, and help continue the good work already being done.”

An opportunity to join a dynamic, successful and growing school community, Holy Trinity has a long tradition of academic excellence and pastoral care and has a strong emphasis on high expectations for all pupils and on academic rigour, which has helped maintain success in national tests and public examinations.

Committed individuals with experience in areas of finance, HR and data analysis are invited to apply, with training and support offered to all successful candidates.

Mrs Leek-Wright added: “The school’s long term aim is to create a closer working relationship between the education sector and that of the world of commerce, helping up-skill our students for the future and preparing them for the world that they will encounter beyond school.”

For further information and how to apply, please contact the Head’s PA, Mrs Karen Roth on 01562 822929 or email: karen.roth@holytrinity.co.uk

Reception Visit West Midlands Safari Park

The Reception Class had been busy learning about dinosaurs during the first part of the summer term.

To assist with their studies and to bring dinosaurs to 'life' for the children, we went to the West Midlands Safari Park for our own prehistoric adventure. While exploring 'The Land of the Living Dinosaurs' we shared our knowledge and used our new vocabulary with each other and with Safari Park staff.

After digging for fossils and trying to out-roar a T-Rex, the children enjoyed celebrating all their hard work by riding the roller coaster, riding the flying hippos as well as enjoying many more rides the park had to offer.

Second HTS Student Through to BBC 500 Word 2nd Round!

Congratulations are in order once again as Arwen W. has also been successfully selected to go through to the next stage of the BBC's 500 WORDS competition.

What an amazing achievement for both students and testament to their hard work and enthusiasm for creative writing as they now proceed through and join the other 4,498 children who have been selected to have their work sent to the Reading Agency for the second round of judging.

Well done and fingers crossed for the Final 50!

School Catering Update from Chef Simon

The start of the autumn term brought the beginning of free meals for key stage one children.

The extra numbers have been coped with very well by kitchen staff, lunch supervisors and teachers. Meals are pre-ordered which helps greatly as we can prepare the meals just before the children come down for lunch.

We are starting up with a new fruit and vegetable supplier after half term, based in Worcestershire. The majority of fruit and vegetables are grown on site. They are set up for school visits, which will be a good way of promoting healthy eating if we can organise visits.

We have been looking at healthier snack options with our main food supplier and have been trialling some low fat cookies in the tuck shop which are going down very well. In line with these healthier changes, we have amended the tuck shop menu which will be online after half term.

On November 27th we are holding a lunch time Themed menu to recognise American thanks giving day. We will have meal choices to fit the day and a range of information about the day and what it represents.

If you would like your child to have school dinners, feel free to sign up for termly meals or pay on an individual day basis. We have all our menus on the Holy Trinity website. Prices are £2.50 for prep school and £3.00 for senior school.

We always appreciate any feedback on these matters and anything else. Get in touch with us at- simon.quill@miquillcatering.co.uk

Thank you,

Simon.
